As I sit at my computer I am thinking what would I like my post to be about this week. I could talk about a host of things however all intelligent thoughts are somewhat non existent. To gain inspiration I looked at week three PowerPoint presentation. I am now more confused then ever. There are so many site that I want to explore, however, I do not know where to start. With limited time on my hands, like everyone else where do I begin my own self discovery? I can only assume that this is how someone with limited technology knowledge must feel when they are faced with administration telling them that they must use technology in their classroom. They must feel overwhelmed not knowing where and how to take the first step. I guess I can relate to this feeling because in many of my decisions I have also felt this way with my career, school, and technology too. It is safer, and of course easier to just continue with what is known and not venture out of ones comfort zone. As the Chinese proverb says a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. I too must begin my journey and begin stepping.
So now that you’ve acknowledged that the world of ed tech is big, and that it can be overwhelming at times….what will you do to take a first step? Pick one site or one product that interests you and begin to explore it.

Being new to teaching (I’m only in my second year), I haven’t had anyone breathing down my back telling me I have to use technology. As the “library teacher” I use technology constantly (as in every time someone needs to check out a book). But the more I read and see and do, the more ways I find to incorporate technology into what I teach. I subscribe to a discussion list of library media specialists whose members are terrific at sharing all they do in the library. I have gotten great ideas when I see how others are using blogs, podcasting, etc. Library today is so much more than “story time”.
My frustration lies not in being overwhelmed with choices and not knowing where to begin, but in having 30 minutes with each class in the school per week and not having enough time! I love what I ,ml; do but I’m starting to feel that “the grass is always greener” feeling. Maybe if I was in a regular classroom, I’d be able to incorporate all of these great ideas.
The dog added a few extra characters and managed to submit my comment before I finished. You’ve given me something to think about (and an idea for a post of my own).
